If you’re looking for the perfect place to escape the cold this season, you might want to break out your favorite ski ensemble and head over to Flatiron. Eataly just welcomed winter by transforming its rooftop restaurant into Baita, an alpine-themed pop-up restaurant that will give you all the snow bunny feels.
Tucked away in the back of Eataly’s flagship you’ll find a small hallway filled with beer kegs, sparkling snowflakes and an elevator. This is where your journey to Baita begins. Take the elevator to the 14th floor, walk past a wall of ski lockers and suddenly you’ll find yourself standing in the middle of a glorious winter wonderland.
Nestled under a retractable glass roof, Baita is a cozy space that offers all the alpine essentials.
This charming chalet-themed restaurant has snowshoes and skis hanging on the walls, evergreen trees, festive decorations, twinkling lights and cozy pelt-covered chairs. Not to mention, a dine-in log cabin that’s pretty damn amazing.
As far as the food is concerned, Baita serves up a myriad of Northern Italian dishes that will make you glad it’s sweater season.
No really, I’m serious. The menu is full of cheese-laden, carb-loaded delights that will send you straight into a food-induced coma. But hey, winter is the perfect time for a little post-lunch hibernation, right?
You can ease into your meal by nibbling on delicious charcuterie platters and cheese boards.
Then move on to some hearty winter comfort foods such as butternut squash soup, pumpkin gnocchi, house-made sausage, gooey raclette and polenta served three different ways.
If you’re looking to swap out your happy hour for a little après-ski, Baita also offer warm libations like mulled wine and boozy hot cocoa that are sure to banish those winter blues.
Seriously, this cozy alpine restaurant is the perfect place to hide out until spring rolls around.
